Foodie Spotlight

When I'm out and about, I do come across some wonderful products and services and I really do need to start sharing them with you!

Here's another of my foodie spotlights - Tesco's Frozen Breakfast Fruit Topper 350g - £1.75

What is it? Well, it's a bag if finely diced mixed fruit, frozen and ready to use. What's so special?

I love frozen fruit as it minimalizes waste and it makes use of fruit when it's in season. Also, if it's frozen fruits that take a while to prepare (like a pineapple), it saves me time! Yeah! This bag contains pineapple, mango, peach and strawberries (naturally very sweet), finely chopped ready to use for a number of things.

I have brought other bags of frozen fruits before, but these usually contain quite large pieces. Large pieces are great to throw in the blender for a smoothie, but what if you want to use them in a different way?

You could use this mix still as a smoothie base, but this is great scattered on top of your cereal. Add some nuts and seeds too to create some interesting texture and taste. How about throwing them, no chopping or prep needed, into a muffin mix and cooking up a lovely bake? Sweeten up a natural yoghurt and stir some in, to add some interest to a rather dull pot. Make a little fruit salsa and use toasted, plain tortilla bread as a scoop....the list is endless and I will add some more ideas to the recipes (check out the quickest and tastiest breakfast I have ever made on the recipe pages).

Good old Tesco's here. Great idea, versatile, not too expensive and a great way to sweeten up a number of dishes without needing to resort to sweeteners. I would suggest trying it on a fussy child as the little fruit pieces are a feast for the eye!
