Breakfast

Overnight Chia Pots

Description

The Overnight thing probably has been "overdone"...but hey, I'm an advocate on the micro-organisation we need to keep on top of eating better! So, instead of a spoonful of oats, milk and a bircher affair you take to work (if it gets that far), how about making this gem of a quick breakfast with chia seeds? Why? A whole heap of protein in a small glass, a different texture and taste and we really ought to try and widen the diversity of food we consume.

Recipe & Instructions

Ingredients

<2 tablespoons of chia seed (aim for a top quality one!)
<1 cup whatever milk you like - nut, goat, oat, cows.....what choice we have?!

A spoonful of something you like :-)

  • walnuts, brazils, cashew, almonds, - or any nuts!
  • grated apple, banana or any of your favourite fruits
  • frozen berries, these are fine to add if you mix them in at step 1
  • toasted oats
  • seeds
  • peanut butter, almond butter or any other nut butter you may have to hand!

Step 1
Mix the milk and chia seeds together in a pretty glass or clean jam jar if you're going mobile in the morning (add the frozen fruits now if you want to use them). Clingfilm/lid the glass and chill overnight.

Step 2
Give the pots a stir to loosen, add some more milk if you like it less thick. Sprinkle on your favourite topping and off you go - breakfast quicker than getting a box of cereal out and MUCH better for you!
