Protein Power Granola

Description

This super crunchy power boost granola is a great store cupboard standby. You could just take a bag of the chunky nuggets with you as a snack as they are rather a treat for the teeth.

The Barefaced Kitchen always has a jar of this hanging about for a number of uses (top yoghurts, smoothie bowls, cereals, fruit and crumbles!) and it takes minutes to get in the oven.

Recipe & Instructions

  • 3 egg whites
  • 4 tbsp maple syrup
  • 400g jumbo oats
  • 3 tbsp pumpkin seeds
  • 3 tbsp sunflower seeds
  • 3 tbsp protein powder (your choice)
  • 3 tbsp sesame seeds
  • A little milk if needed

Mix the whole lot in a bowl.

Preheat the oven to 200°C/Gas Mark 6 and line a baking tray.

Tip the content onto the tray and using your hands, start to massage the oats so they become clumpy and stuck together in places. If it is still little too dry to do that, drop some milk on to help (will depend on the size of your eggs and how effective you are at separating!).

Place the tray in the oven for 20 minutes and then turn the oven right down to 140°C/Gas Mark 1 and leave the granola in the oven for another 45 minutes or until well-dried out and crisp.

Place in a pretty glass jar or store in another air tight container of choice.
